Purpose To make rational use of maize germplasm resources to improve maize varieties.
Method The genetic diversity of 35 maize inbred lines, which cultivated in Yuxi City, were carried out based on simple sequence repeat (SSR) primers recommended by agricultural industry standard (NY/T 1432—2014).
Results A total of 20 pairs of SSR primers presented polymorphic among 35 varieties, and 105 alleles were detected. The number of alleles detected by each pair of primers was 3 to 9, with an average of 5.25. The Nei’s genetic diversity index was 0.134 to 0.365, with an average of 0.240. The Shannon’s information index was 0.247 to 0.538, with an average of 0.385. The polymorphism information content of SSR distribution ranges from 0.482 to 0.832, with an average of 0.644. The cluster analysis showed the genetic similarity coefficient ranged from 0.505 to 0.962, with an average of 0.704, and when the genetic similarity coefficient was 0.650, 35 varieties were divided into four groups.
Conclusion The genetic diversity of 35 maize inbred lines in Yunnan is abundant, including multiple heterosis groups. The results of this study can provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for breeding and promotion of Yuxi maize varieties in Yunnan Province.
