PurposeTo explore the egg laying rule of Qianhua black-bone chickens and screen the best curve fitting models.
MethodsThe egg laying rate and accumulative number of egg laying of Qianhua black-bone chickens (the basic population for selection) from 20-43 weeks of age were counted and analysed. The fitting models were utilized to fit the egg production rate (Wood model, Yang-Ning model, McMillan model and cubic equation) and accumulative number of egg laying (Gompertz model, Logistic model and Von Bertalanffy model), and model fitting values were compared with the observed values.
ResultsYang-Ning model had the best fitting effect for the curve of egg production rate of Qianhua black-bone chickens, the goodness-of-fit (R2 value) was 0.982; the fitting effect of Wood model was the worst, and the R2 value was 0.830. The Gompertz model, Logistic model and Von Bertalanffy model could all fit the curve of accumulative number of egg laying well, especially the fitting values of Von Bertalanffy model were closest to the observed values, and the R2 value was 0.999.
ConclusionYang-Ning and Von Bertalanffy are the best egg curve fitting models for the egg laying rule of Qianhua black-bone chickens, which have important guiding significance for the breeding and feeding management of Qianhua black-bone chickens.
