Effects of Fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng on the IntestinalStructure and Immunity of Rats with Spleen Deficiency

  • PurposeTo study the effect of fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng on the intestinal structure and intestinal immunity in rats with spleen deficiency.
    MethodsEighty SPF-level healthy SD rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group, fermented bacteria group and fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng group. Except the blank group, the other groups were artificially replicated spleen-deficiency model by the method of eating disorder and bitter cold purging. After the model replicated successfully, the fermented bacteria group and the fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng group were fed with fermented bacteria or fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng, and the blank group and the model group were fed with experimental mice maintenance feed. At the end of the experiment, the rats in each group were weighed, the blood routine and the immune organ index were measured; the morphological changes of the rat’s intestinal tissues were observed, the height of villi, the width of villi and the depth of crypts were measured, and the serum IL-2, IL-10, TNF-α, IFN-γ and intestinal tissue sIgA levels of rats were detected by ELISA.
    ResultsCompared with the model group, the number of white blood cell and immune organ index increased in the fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng group of rats, the difference was significant (P<0.05); the height of duodenal and ileum villi in the fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng group was increased, and compared with the model group, the difference was extremely significant (P<0.01); the serum IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-10 and intestinal mucosal tissue sIgA levels in the fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng group increased, and the difference was extremely significant compared with the model group (P<0.01).
    ConclusionThe fermented Nyuhuang Fuzheng can regulate the immune function of rats with spleen deficiency by up-regulating the index of immune organ index, IL-2, IL-10, TNF-α, IFN-γ, and intestinal mucosal sIgA levels, and improve and repair the immune function of rats with spleen deficiency, recovering the intestinal mucosa immunity.
