Effect of Nitrogen Application on the Dynamic Changes of the Seed Yield and Nitrogen Accumulation in Lolium multiflorum

  • PurposeTo find the best way of applying nitrogen (N) fertilizer for high seed yield of Lolium multiflorum.
MethodsThe effects of different N fertilizer combinations on the seed yield and N accumulation of L. multiflorum were studied by using incomplete block orthogonal design.
ResultThere were significant differences in the seed yield between different N application time and proportion (P<0.05), the treatment of 50 kg/hm2 (autumn)+100 kg/hm2 (early winter)+150 kg/hm2 (spring) had the best effect on increasing yield, and the seed yield was 2523.6 kg/hm2. Under the same total amount of N application, N of spilt application in autumn, early winter and spring could significantly improve seed yield. There was a significant linear relationship between N content and relative seed yield in three leaf stage, heading stage, flowering stage and mature stage. The regression equations were y=26.789x−52.937, y=64.652x−131.67, y=91.940x−146.610, y=91.763x−23.254, respectively; and the determination coefficients respectively were 0.8824, 0.7145, 0.8543 and 0.7170, reaching a significant level (P<0.05).
ConclusionBased on the application of N fertilizer in autumn and spring, increasing the application of N fertilizer in early winter can improve the seed yield of L. multiflorum.
