PurposeTo study the chemical constituents composition and relative content of different parts of the Oroxylum indicum (L.) Vent., providing scientific theoretical basis for the development of medicinal components and pharmacological evaluation.
MethodThe chemical constituents of volatile oils from fibrous root, taproot, base of the root, stem I, stem II, branch I, branch II and fruit of O. indicum were analyzed by GC-MS.
ResultsThe main chemical constituents of the volatile oil of O. indicum were alcohols, phenols, ketones and aldehydes, and the content of alcohols was the highest, which be found in eight parts of O. indicum and the relative content was higher. The constituents that unique or relatively higher content than other parts of the material were found in some parts of the O. indicum, such as L-alanine be found in volatile oil of stem I, hydroxyurea be found in branch I, benzyl alcohol be found in branch II, 1-amantadine and dimethylamine be found in fruit.
ConclusionThe study results provide a theoretical basis for the extraction and utilization of chemical constituents of O. indicum.
