PurposeTo study the similarity of volatile organic compounds in cigarettes and analyze the style characteristics and quality evaluation.
MethodCigarettes of five different brands obtained locally were chosen and analyzed by HS-GC-IMS. Fingerprint was established to analyze the distribution of VOCs and principal component analysis was used to analyze the similarity among different brands of cigarettes.
ResultBased on fingerprints, the results showed that the composition of volatile organic compounds in five cigarette samples were almost the same, but the concentrations had some differences. According to principal component analysis, when the contribution degree reached 68%, the characteristics of different cigarettes could be accurately distinguished.
ConclusionThe HS-GC-IMS technology can be used to analyze the difference of volatile substances as well as to provide theoretical basis and data support for cigarettes flavor analysis and quality evaluation.
