Analysis of Potato Farming NPK Inputs and Soil Nutrient Balance in Yunnan Province

  • PurposeTo understand the cultivation of potato farmers in Yunnan Province, which is very important for further optimization of potato cultivation.
MethodBy using the method of household survey and investigation in field, we calculated and analyzed the crop yield, the fertilizer application and the nutrient balance in the typical planting area of potato.
ResultThe average input for N, P2O5, K2O were 222.5, 111.3 and 60.8 kg/hm2, respectively in the typical potato field of Yunnan Province. The amount of N and K2O input in the Northern Yunnan are higher than other area; N and P2O5 surplus were 139.2 and 60.6 kg/hm2 in ecosystem of potato plantations in Yunnan Province, K2O deficit of 59 kg/hm2.
ConclusionNPK fertilizer ratio should be adjusted by moderate reducing the usage of N and increasing the amount of K2O in Yunnan.
