PurposeTo investigate the environmental adaptation of Pantoea agglomrans C3 causing maize top rot.
MethodIts survival dynamic was detected in different temperatures, surface water of different quality and host plants with dilution plate method.
Result C3 was sensitive to ultraviolet radiation (UVC), and all of its cells could be killed after 40 seconds radiation. Compared with 37 ℃, 4 ℃ and 20 ℃ facilitated this plant pathogen’s survival. The number of C3 in sterilized tap water, ditch water and tap water were more than those in drainage water and pond water. In addition, C3 could colonize in various plant leaves, where the density order from high to low was maize, tobacco, cotton, clover and barnyard grass.
ConclusionP. agglomerans has strong environmental adaptability and can survive and reproduce in different environments.
