Species of Aphids and Aphidiidae on Wintercrops Cultivated in Tobacco-cultivating Areas in Yunnan Province

  • Purpose In order to define the species of aphids and Aphidiidae on winter-crops cultivated in tobacco-cultivating areas in Yunnan Province, which can provide the theoretical base for the extensive application of biological control technology of aphids with Aphidius gifuensis.
Method The extensive collection were investigated from 2013 to 2015, the specimens were collected and prepared indoors, the aphids were mounted on slides and the adults of Aphidiidae were stored in 75% alcohol, then identified under microscope.
Result The 15 species representing 12 genera of aphids and 21 species representing 7 genera of Aphidiidae were collected and identified. 8 species belonging to 5 genera of Aphidiidae could parasite Myzus persicae. 5 species belonging to 6 genera of aphids could be parasitic on A. gifuensis.
Conclusion There is abundance in species of aphids and Aphidiidae on winter-crops cultivated in tobacco-cultivating areas in Yunnan Province, dominant Aphidiidae species can be mass reared to control the corresponding parasitic aphids.
