Construction and Management of Water Diversion and Irrigation Project of Guangji Canal, Huaiqing Mansion, Ming Dynasty: A Survey Centered on Water Inscriptions

  • Twelve passes of the existing inscriptions on the Guangji canal in Fangkou of Huaiqing Prefecture in the Ming Dynasty can be divided into three types: seal speech, memo, and narration. Through the inspection, arrangement and interpretation of these inscriptions, you can get an overview of the construction and management of the Guangji Canal at that time, including funding sources, project progress, water diversion methods, water distribution models, irrigation area, daily maintenance, etc. At the same time, it can be found that the inscriptions play a social role in alleviating social contradictions, urging people to abide by water conservancy rules, reflecting the Ming Dynasty’ s river canal project funding management mechanism, etc., and deepening their understanding of the value and significance of the Guangji Canal’ s water conservancy inscription, thereby enriching the history of the Ming Dynasty’ s water conservancy projects and research on irrigation history.
