The Farmers' Willingness to Pay For Rural Waste Management in Poverty Stricken Areas:Taking Gansu Province as an Example

With the development of rural economy and improvement of farmers' living standards, the quantity of rural household garbage is increasing day by day, and the traditional garbage disposal patterns have been challenged. So, this paper focuses on waste centralized treatment and selects 12 variables and uses the logistic model to analyze and study influencing factors of farmers' willingness to pay for rural waste management. Results shows:(1) 69% of farmers are willing to pay,while 31% are unwilling, and farmers' willingness to pay often comes from their own understanding of environmental protection, and is affected by many factors such as farmers' own characteristics and economic factors, local social environment and policies of systems. (2) education of farmers, farmers' understanding of environmental protection, household income, whether as a village leader, the evaluation of village environment, the relatives and friends' willingness to pay, whether have a system of garbage collector and cleaning management and age of farmer, those variables passed the significance test with the statistical level of 1% and 5%, the age has a significant negative influence on farmers willingness to pay, while other factors was positively correlated with the willingness to pay.
