A Comparative Study of Cultural Need of Residents in Different Regions from the Perspective of Spatial Difference: Taking Residents of 84 Counties in Fujian Province as Sample for Analysis

  • The paper surveys the residents of 84 counties (cities and districts) in Fujian Province, and analyzes cultural needs of residents in urban, suburban, town and rural areas from the perspective of spatial difference. The following results were found by research:on the whole, the cultural needs of residents in Fujian Province are changing from daily entertainment to knowledge-based development. The priority of need of rural residents for cultural activities and facilities has a greater distinction with the residents in the three types of urban, suburban and town, and residents in different regions have notable differences in need of cultural activities category, but they have less difference in need of cultural facilities category. The cultural need satisfaction of suburban and rural residents are low, and the town and urban residents are relatively high. There are four factors to explain the differences in cultural needs of residents in different regions:the degree of economic development level, geographical and cultural environment, spatial accessibility of cultural supply and residents' cultural awareness. At last, the paper puts forward some suggestions on optimizing the cultural environment, integrating the regional cultural elements, filling the short board of cultural development and cultivating residents' cultural awareness.
