Thoughts on Expanding English Courses for the Institutes of Nationalities

  • Due to their respective geographical locations, student pools and their traditions in teaching, most of the Institutes of Nationalities in China have not provided expanding English courses for their students. Thus, it is hard for them to fulfill the teaching goals and the goal of talent training in the new age, namely, to focus on the development of the students' comprehensive quality. By referring to document analyses,interviews and questionnaire surveys, this paper intends to analyze the necessity of opening up some expanding English courses in the Institutes of Nationalities. It also provides some suggestions for possible expanding English courses. In doing so, this paper aims to lay the foundation for offering expanding English courses for students in the Institutes of Nationalities, thus improving the quality of teaching and better fulfilling the teaching objectives required in the new age.
