A Research into the Characteristics Analysis of Students' English Writing at Higher Vocational Colleges and Their Solutions Based on Big Data

  • Base on big data at wwww.pigai.org, this paper analyzes 109 312 compositions from higher vocational colleges all over the country comprehensively and multi-dimensionally. The research shows that learning enthusiasm of students from higher vocational colleges is not lower than that from undergraduate colleges or due to the low level of English writing, higher vocational students will revise writings many times with high error rate of their writings. The English writing ability of students from higher vocational colleges is lower than that from undergraduate colleges. The highest error rate of higher vocational college students' English writings is spelling and collocation. Students from high grade group and low grade group make different types of mistakes in English writings. Mistakes from high grade one are collocation and subject-verb agreement and mistakes from low grade one are case matters and collocation. Meanwhile, this paper puts forward the corresponding teaching countermeasures based on those conclusions.
