"A Le Qiu" and "Naxi A Ma":An Analysis of Naxi Women's Traditional Image from Cultural Linguistic Perspective

Language is a mirror of culture. In the language of every ethnic group, there are a lot of particular language phenomena, vocabularies and sayings which can reflect the ideology and values of each ethnic group. Some particular language phenomena in Naxi language can illustrate women's role and status in Naxi culture, of which A Le Qiu and Naxi A Ma can be regarded as two cultural symbols representing traditional image of Naxi women. These two cultural symbols as well as other linguistic expressions in Naxi language reflect some distinctive traits of Naxi women such as diligence, bravery, independence and the fact that they play a vital role in family life. A correct recognition of these linguistic cultural symbols as well as the cultural connotations behind them will play a positive part in the construction of ethnic culture and inheritance of valuable cultural traditions.
