Design for the Peasantry:Taking Household Electrical Appliances for Example

This paper illustrates the problems arising from fact that the design for household electrical appliances ignores the need of peasantry, it proposes the concept of design for the peasantry, meanwhile it analyses that only when household electrical appliances profoundly satisfy the living environment, cultural traditions and consuming expectations among peasantry, can those appliances be accepted by the market. This paper by combining the case study, states the four aspects of design for the peasantry: addition and reduction in functions; combination of appearance and function; easy recognition and operation for peasantry; and proper adjustment on functions in according to different regional environments.
