Bilingual Parallel Corpus:based Vocabulary Translation Teaching

  • Bilingual parallel corpus-based vocabulary translation teaching is a learner-centered teaching mode which can best arouse students' learning interest. As an aid to vocabulary translation teaching, the functions of bilingual parallel corpus can be seen in the ways as: helping teachers and students verify whether the phases and collocations concerned are idiomatic or not; providing rich parallel samples for a key word (or phrase) which helps students enlarge their translation equivalents and cultivate sense of language; providing translation equivalents that are not included in dictionaries for students to imitate; providing source material for teachers to design translation exercises and testing papers.
