Research Progress and Prospect of Landscape Gene Theory in China

Landscape gene theory has important theoretical and practical significance in the research of traditional village protection and utilization, rural tourism planning, cultural landscape protection and so on. In this paper, the database of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) was used as the literature retrieval source, the bibliometric method was used as the research method, and the visualization software CiteSpace was used for keyword co-occurrence network and cluster analysis. It was found that, the research progress could be divided into three stages: theory initial (2003—2008), integration exploration (2009—2016) and rapid development (2017—2022); in recent years, most of the research focused on landscape genes, traditional villages and cultural landscape; the research content mainly involved research on traditional village protection and cultural inheritance, landscape gene map construction, landscape gene information chain theory, traditional village local identity and perception research, tourism destination protection and development research, rural planning and construction research, and other aspects. Finally, this paper pointed out the shortcomings of the current research, and looked forward to the future research direction based on the research review, the mapping knowledge analysis and the long-term practical research of the research team.
