Farmers’ Demand of Agricultural Socialized Services: Based on the Investigation of 324 Rice Growers

  • Establishing and perfecting the agricultural socialized service system is an effective way to improve the competitiveness of agriculture and a prominent feature of modern agriculture. To fully understand and grasp the characteristics of farmers’ demand for agricultural socialized service is the key to realize agricultural modernization in China. Based on the field survey data, using descriptive statistical methods and binary logistic regression model, this paper empirically analyzes the demand of small farmers for agricultural social services and its influencing factors. The research shows that harvesting service and land preparation service are the most urgent services for small farmers, but the overall effective demand of agricultural socialization service for small farmers is low. Whether they have participated in agricultural training, the degree of land fragmentation and the implementation of high standard farmland construction have a significant positive impact on the demand for different agricultural socialized services, while gender and education level have a significant negative impact on the demand for different agricultural socialized services. In the future, we should innovate the mode of service supply, vigorously promote the continuous management of rural land, speed up the pace of high standard farmland construction, encourage small farmers to participate in agricultural training in many ways and measures, and increase the support of seedling raising and transplanting services, fertilizer outsourcing services and agricultural insurance services.
