PurposeTo clarify the nutrient abundance and deficiency status and variation characteristics of tobacco-planting soil in Jinsha River Basin of Lijiang, providing data support for scientific and efficient fertilization of tobacco-planting soil.
MethodsFrom 2017 to 2020, 938 tobacco planting soil sites in Jinsha River Basin were tracked and collected to determine soil pH, and contents of organic matter, hydrolytic nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium and water soluble chlorine. Principal component analysis and fuzzy membership function comprehensive evaluation model were used to study the spatio-temporal variation characteristics of soil fertility indexes. The suitability of soil fertility was evaluated comprehensively.
ResultsThe pH value and organic matter content of soil in tobacco-planting areas in five counties (districts) of Jinsha River Basin remained stable and in the appropriate range. The content of available potassium was abundant and increased year by year, while the contents of hydrolytic nitrogen and available phosphorus increased year by year and then decreased in 2020. Water soluble chlorine content decreased year by year and was lower than normal value. Suitability evaluation showed that Yulong County had the highest soil fertility suitability index (SFI) and Huaping County had the lowest SFI (0.64 and 0.51, respectively). The overall soil quality in Jinsha River Basin was Grade Ⅱ, and the SFI was 0.58.
ConclusionThe overall quality of tobacco-planting soil in Jinsha River Basin of Lijiang is good, which is suitable for flue-cured tobacco planting. However, attention should be paid to soil quality improvement, reasonable crop rotation, scientific and effective fertilization and strict control of fertilizer input.
