Affix Acquisition Sequence and Patterns of Medical Students

  • 摘要: 在医学英语词汇中,词缀法是最重要的构词方法。词缀是医学学生应该学习掌握的非常有效和有意义的工具。实证研究表明医学生有效词缀习得顺序依次为:接受性后缀→接受性前缀→产出性后缀→产出性前缀,他们的词缀习得发展规律为:前缀知识与后缀知识都是以不同的速度或效率向前推进的,但接受性词缀与前缀知识的发展明显快于产出性词缀与后缀知识的发展。

     

    Abstract: Affixation is the most important wordformation in Medical English,which is an efficient and meaningful tool medical students should learn to use.The results based on the empirical study show that the sequence followed by medical students in acquiring affix knowledge can be roughly described as:receptive suffix—receptive prefix—productive suffix—productive prefix.Tendency of their affix acquisition is that:there is a progressive and significant development of receptive affixes and prefix knowledge,which show more rapid progress than productive affixes and suffix knowledge.Productive affixes and suffix knowledge also develop nonsignificantly.
