科技英语定语从句汉译的句法重构

An Approach to Scientific English Attributive Clause Translation from the Perspective of Syntax Reconstruction

摘要: 在科技英汉翻译实践中，定语从句的翻译往往较难处理，这主要缘于英汉两种语系的迥异差别，英语属形合语言，偏重形式的整合，而汉语属意合语言，偏重意义的整合。事实上，汉语中并没有定语从句之说，作为修饰成分的定语习惯上被放在修饰词之前，汉语没有长定语；而英语定语从句位置较灵活，英语的定语从句在逻辑意义上有时具有状语意义，而汉语的定语一般不具备这种功能。这些差别使得译者在翻译时必须善于变通，根据上下文语境适当在句法层面上调整、灵活处理。

Abstract: In scientific EnglishChinese translation，the conveying of attributive clause has been a delicate issue due to the differences between the structure of the two languages,namely hypotaxis and parataxis structure. In many cases, English attributive clauses cant be conveyed as attributive structure in Chinese. Therefore, a translator has to make some modification on the syntax level in the light of the logical and semantic relationship of the original sentence.
