Abstract: Classic Chinese garden used to made splendid achievements, but now, the modern Chinese landscape design should be improved urgently. By contrast, the Japanese landscape that used to be deeply influenced by China has created brand new form of landscape represented by dry advanced level. The minimalist garden rose up around 1960s in American, which also has made worldwide influence. By introducing the histories, internal features and influences to modern landscape design of dry landscape and minimalist garden smiply, the article put forward the the similarities of them in design concept and presentation, and through the way how dry landscape and minimalist garden inherit and carry forward the tradition, we hoped it can bring some inspirations to the development of modern landscape design in China.
