Photosynthetic Characteristics and Comprehensive Evaluation of Different Mung Bean Varieties (Lines)

  • Purpose To select the mung bean varieties (lines) with strong photosynthetic ability and high yield.
    Methods The photosynthetic characteristics of 32 mung bean varieties (lines) were investigated at the flowering and pod stage. The correlations among photosynthetic characteristics and between photosynthetic characteristics and yield were analyzed, combining with yield-related traits.
    Results There were significant differences in photosynthetic characteristics among different mung bean varieties(lines). Principal component analysis showed that: the cumulative contribution rate of the first two principal components was 91.361%, the first principal component mainly reflected the information of transpiration rate (Tr), stomatal conductance (Gs), intercellular carbon dioxide concentration (Ci) and water use efficiency (WUE), and the second principal component mainly reflected the information of net photosynthetic rate (Pn). The 32 mung bean varieties (lines) were clusted into three groups by cluster analysis, six materials from group Ⅱ with higher Pn, Gs, Ci and Tr.
    Conclusion The mung bean varieties (lines) of Jilyu No.3 and Jilyu No.2 show better photosynthetic characteristics and yield traits, and they are suitable for popularization and application in production.
